Typical applications for diaphragm separators:

Selecting the diaphragm size

A small measuring range, larger differences in operating temperatures, higher accuracy requirements, longer capillary lengths, and the need for low damping – all these are factors that lead to the requirement for a larger diaphragm diameter.

Filling separators with working fluid

Filling is carried out under vacuum, as the space to be filled must be thoroughly degassed. Similarly, the working fluid must be stripped of dissolved gases prior to filling. Taking into account the conditions under which the system is to operate, we use the following working fluids:

• silicone oil for standard applications at temperatures from -20 to +200°C;
• KN3.2 (WIKA) high-temperature oil for temperatures up to 400°C;
• halocarbon oil for applications on equipment operating with oxygen or chlorine;
• low-viscosity silicone oil for temperatures from -90 to +100°C;
• NEOBEE synthetic oil with USDA food-grade certification.

The precise and reliable operation of a system with a diaphragm separator depends, first and foremost, on the selection of a suitable type and size of separator. It is also important to set the initial parameters, which include adjusting the diaphragm stiffness and determining the optimum volume of working fluid. When placing an order, please specify the following parameters: the type and size of the required separator; the range of pressure to be measured and the required measurement accuracy; the temperature of the substance being measured (continuous, short-term during measurement, short-term without measurement); ambient temperature; operating position (separator axis horizontal, vertical, inclined, diaphragm facing up/down); type of fluid or gas being measured, with any notes regarding its corrosive effects; type of pressure gauge or transducer to be used with the separator, including specifications of its connection dimensions.

Application of protective films

PTFE films increase the resistance of the stainless steel diaphragm to the effects of certain aggressive chemicals.
The diaphragms are protected against the abrasive effect of solid particles carried by the flow of the measured fluid by a layer of soft rubber.
